Sustainability is hailed as a future-proof ideal – but only as long as it doesn’t hurt.
In tougher times, it suddenly becomes negotiable. It gets rebranded, scaled back, or quietly buried.
I shed light on the mechanisms behind this shift: on greenwashing and greenhushing, on backpedaling, backbone, and promises that hold up to reality.
And on the question of how sustainability can stand firm when the tailwind turns to headwind.
