artificial intelligence & Ethics

The use of AI promises new possibilities, but it also confronts organisations with fundamental questions of responsibility – strategically, organisationally and socially. Organisations must determine how AI aligns with their existing goals and values, how to ensure explainability and accountability in decision-making, and how risks and discrimination can be avoided.

My work ranges from strategic assessments to keynotes and workshops, as well as stakeholder surveys and training concepts. I work closely with you – pragmatically and with a clear view of the key questions that go beyond technical feasibility.

I support organisations in assessing AI from an ethical perspective and in using it responsibly – with sound judgement, independently and with long-standing experience at the intersection of technology, sustainability and responsibility.

My Focus Areas

In my work on AI and ethics, I focus on questions such as:

  • Strategic alignment – Does the use of AI fit an organisation’s purpose, values and existing commitments, or does it create conflicts of interest?
  • Transparency and accountability – What must people in leadership positions be able to explain and account for when they deploy AI?
  • Expectations and concerns – What expectations and ethically relevant concerns do employees, clients and other affected parties have regarding the use of AI?
  • Bias and unintended consequences – How can organisations ensure that AI does not create structural or unintended disadvantages in practice?
  • Sustainability and governance – How does the use of AI align with an organisation’s sustainability strategy, and what does it mean in terms of resource consumption, social impact and reputational risk?

How I work

I do not provide technical AI solutions. My contribution lies elsewhere: in clear, independent assessment. Typical forms of collaboration include:

  • Guidance for leadership teams – Structured conversations and sparring to clarify strategic questions and responsibilities around AI.
  • Workshops on AI and responsibility – Joint analysis of concrete applications, identification of key risks and definition of guardrails.
  • Reflection on AI initiatives – Critical review of existing or planned projects to clarify decision paths, roles and implications.
  • Stakeholder perspectives – Structured engagement with internal and external stakeholders to understand expectations, reservations and impacts of AI, and to integrate these insights into decision-making.
  • Principles and guidelines – Development of clear and comprehensible principles for the responsible use of AI within the organisation.

Examples from my Practice

My work on AI and ethics combines strategic insight, practical collaboration and academic depth. I give keynotes and teach on AI, fairness, transparency and responsibility – in companies, executive education programmes and at universities and universities of applied sciences.

This includes workshops and sparring sessions with organisations in the financial and technology sectors to reflect on AI-related decisions with regard to fairness and responsibility, as well as the analysis and discussion of real-world case studies on discrimination in data, automated decision-making and environmental impacts.
